The AI agents I recommend
My recommendations for getting started with a personal AI agent and giving a team agent the context and access it needs.
AI Agents are – and deserve to be – all the rage right now. I’ve built my fair share of them for clients and friends. Here are my recommendations.
Personal Agent Apps
Never had an agent? Start here; try one of these:
I recommend Grok Bot: it has a brief and clear communication style, quickly understands what you want, and gets it done. Pay for 1 month. Best tip: give your bot functional titles not names (watch this video for a brief tutorial)
Team AI / Advanced Personal
Agents get really great when you go multiplayer. If you work with a team on Slack, Discord, or - god forbid - MS Teams, you can add the bot to your team workspace. (if you use Discourse – reach out; I’ve got a hunch that this is the best medium for an AI teammate)
Harness
The easiest to set up is Hermes Agent
- Here’s a tutorial and connect it to your team’s workspace.
Subscription
Either use it with:
- your Codex subscription
- take the $40 OpenCode Go subscription and use Deepseek v4.1-flash.
Context & Skills
Giving it context is what makes it or break it.
- Give it controlled access to your apps via: Loggie
- Add video watching skill with YouTube / Gemini: there’s something magical about recording your screen explaining something and have the klanker understand it.
- Create a channel-based skill: this makes it easier to jump between different channels and the bot always knows that when you say, for example, “update the spreadsheet” in
#marketingis about the marketing spreadsheet and#supply-chainis the supply chain one.
Stuck? Reach out. We at UnblockLabs have been unleashing team klankers onto the world since the beginning of ’26.
